Louis Kahn

Louis I. Kahn (1901–1974) was one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century. Born in Estonia and raised in Philadelphia, Kahn developed a distinctive architectural language characterised by monumental, monolithic forms, material expression, and a profound engagement with the relationship between light, space and form. His work continues to influence architectural education and practice worldwide.

These publications by Michael Merrill and Sue Ann Kahn offer readers the opportunity to engage directly with the ideas and creative process behind his work. Drawing on his sketches, notebooks, and built and unrealized projects, they reveal Kahn as an extraordinary architect, thinker and draughtsman, offering visually rich, critically appraised contributions to scholarship on Kahn.

Jasper Morrison

Jasper Morrison (born 1959, London) is one of the most influential product designers of his generation, known for an approach that finds beauty in the ordinary. Based between London, Paris and Tokyo, he has designed furniture, lighting, electronics, tableware and everyday objects for leading international manufacturers, guided by a focus on simplicity and functionality. His relevance lies not only in the objects he has designed, but in the clarity of his position: design as careful observation, not novelty for its own sake.

Alongside his design practice, Morrison has published a significant body of books, including Everything but the Walls (2006), A World Without Words (2012), The Good Life (2014), The Hard Life (2017), Super Normal (2007, co-author), A Way of Life (2023, contributor) and A Book of Things (2025). These publications offer compelling observations on contemporary design, including his own design philosophy, articulated through a precise, lucid writing style.
