Sophie Taeuber-Arp

SOPHIE TAEUBER-ARP (1889–1943) was a French-Swiss artist and a pioneer of abstract art. Her multifaceted work includes painting, sculptures and textile work. She was the editor of the trilingual art magazine “Plastique”. A member of different artist groups such as Cercle et Carré, this brought her into contact with many protagonists of avantgarde art, resulting in various friendships.
