Niklaus Troxler

Niklaus Troxler (*1947) trained as a typographer and graphic designer at the School of Design in Lucerne. Following a brief stint as art director at Hollenstein Création in Paris, he opened his own graphic design studio in 1973 and from then on has worked as a freelance graphic artist. From 1998 to 2013, he taught as a professor of communication design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. In 1966, Troxler started to organize jazz concerts in Willisau/Switzerland, where he lives, and became the driving force of the Jazz Festival Willisau which he founded in 1975. Troxler has designed around 200 jazz posters which have received numerous national and international awards. His works are represented in major collections worldwide, such as the New York Museum of Modern Art and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
