Peter Zumthor

Peter Zumthor (*1943) is one of the most internationally renowned Swiss architects. He trained as a cabinet maker in his father's business before he studied interior architecture and design at the Kunstgewerbeschule Basel and then architecture and industrial design at the Pratt Institute New York. In 1979, he founded his own studio in Haldenstein (Switzerland) with which he realized outstanding buildings such as the Kunsthaus Bregenz (1997) or the Kunstmuseum Kolumba Cologne (2007). Zumthor has received numerous prizes and awards for his work, including the Pritzker Prize for Architecture in 2009.
