Edo Smitshuijzen

Edo Smitshuijzen (*1944) is a Dutch graphic and product designer and design writer. Having graduated from IvKNO (now Gerrit Rietveld Academy of Art) in 1965, Smitshuijzen started to work as a freelance designer for Geïllustreerde Pers, a Dutch publishing house. In 1977, he started the design studio B&S together with Jan Boterman which grew out to be BRS Premsela Vonk, one of the largest design studios in the Netherlands after merging with Premsela Vonk architects. After leaving the partnership, Smitshuijzen moved to France and worked as a freelance designer. He is the creator of a patented signage system that is used in institutions and museums worldwide.
